Dave Beachnau, Executive Directoralt

David Beachnau , Executive Director for Detroit Sports, has been with the organization since its inception in January 2001. Beachnau was instrumental in the research, development, and creation of Detroit Sports. In this senior management role, he is responsible for Detroit Sports’ day-to-day operations including bid development and hosting of regional, national and international sporting events in metro Detroit. In the summer of 2003, he oversaw the largest multi-sport event held annually for youth in the U.S., the AAU Junior Olympic Games; and hosted the event again in 2008. He was also instrumental in securing multiple NCAA Championship events for the region; including the 2009 NCAA Men’s Final Four, the 2009 NCAA Bowling Championships, and the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four; as well as serving as co-tournament manager for the 2007 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

Beachnau developed the Detroit Sports tagline, “Where Champions are made, and Championships are played. Detroit.”, and also led the 2008 re-branding initiative of the Detroit Metro Sports Commission to Detroit Sports. He was also one of the original founders and creators of the Big Day Prep Showdown. The Detroit Sports-owned event has been held annually since 2005.

Prior to his appointment with Detroit Sports, he spent several years as an account representative targeting event rights holders for the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB). Beachnau also spent eight years in the hospitality industry.

Beachnau has served as a member of the board for the National Association of Sports Commissions and is currently a board member with the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.

A Lansing native, Beachnau now resides in Allen Park, with his wife, Edie, and children, Kimberly and Tyler. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, where he also lettered in basketball and baseball.

Sean Krabach, Senior Manager, Event Operations

Sean Krabach has a solid background in event management, public relations and communications, including almost 14 years of experience in the sports event industry.

Now in his seventh year with Detroit Sports, Krabach recently lead the Detroit Local Organizing Committee (DLOC) for the 2010 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four where a record crowd of more than 37,000 watched Boston College defeat Wisconsin for the National Championship in a specially built rink at Ford Field. As the Director of the DLOC, Krabach lead all activities outside of Ford Field, including the College Hockey Fan Fest, other ancillary events and lead the décor and volunteer programs.

Prior to leading Detroit’s efforts for the Frozen Four, Krabach worked for 18 months as the Vice President of Internal Operations on the 2009 NCAA Men’s Final Four, also held at Ford Field. In this role, Krabach oversaw various aspects of game and event management for the 2009 NCAA Men’s Final Four and the 2008 NCAA Men’s Midwest Regional, including overseeing aspects of décor, transportation and volunteers for both events.

Krabach also served 18 months with the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee where he worked on volunteer logistics and operations for Super Bowl XL. This endeavor resulted in the management of more than 8,000 volunteers at almost 50 locations throughout metro Detroit, including the management of almost 2,400 volunteers at the NFL Experience.

His event resume also includes working on the 2003 & 2008 AAU Junior Olympic Games, the 2007 NCAA Wrestling Championships, the 2006 MLB World Series and the 2005 Motown Winter Blast. He has also worked on various local and national AAU tournaments and works on Detroit Sports' annual Big Day Prep Showdown.

Prior to joining Detroit Sports, Krabach worked for the International Hockey League where he not only oversaw the league’s communications duties, but he also assisted with the league’s annual All-Star Game and the Turner Cup Playoffs. His sports career started with the Port Huron Border Cats of the United Hockey League where he oversaw public relations duties for the inaugural UHL All-Star Game. For that effort, he was named the 1997-98 UHL Public Relations Director of the Year.

In addition to his sports background, Krabach has experience working for several Detroit area nonprofit's and associations, including the Michigan Metro Girl Scout Council, the Southeast Michigan Red Cross, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the National Truck Equipment Association.

Krabach graduated with a degree in Communications/Public Relations from Northern Michigan University and is also a graduate of the National Association of Sports Commission’s (NASC) Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) program, an industry certification for professionals in the Sports Event Industry.

He and his wife, Amy, reside in Redford with their Golden Retriever, Paddington.

Andrew Green, Coordinator, Event Services andrew bio pic 3 - small

Andrew Green joined Detroit Sports as Coordinator, Event Services in May, 2010. His primary responsibilities include providing event coordination services and consultation to event organizers hosting events in metro Detroit, as well as any Detroit Sports hosted and  managed events. He assists in bid development and maintains the content of the Detroit Sports’ website and social media elements.

Originally born in Detroit, Andrew moved to Florida with his family in 1994. After living in Melbourne, Florida for 12 years, Andrew moved to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida (USF). While attending USF, he achieved a degree in marketing and a degree in finance along with three years of interning experience in the sports marketing and sporting events industry.

Andrew’s first internship was with the USF Athletic Department as a Sports Marketing Assistant. In this role, Andrew managed day-to-day marketing for all of the university’s athletic teams. He also helped execute game day operations and promotions.

Following his internship with USF Athletics, Andrew obtained a position as Marketing Partnerships Intern for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm. Andrew’s responsibilities included contract creation, client services and event operations.

Andrew then returned to collegiate athletics as Sports Intern for the USF ISP (International Sports Proprieties) Sports Network after interning for the Lightning and Storm. In a position he held for two years, Andrew assisted ISP sales personal with sponsorship creation and activation, game day promotion management, and client services.

Upon completion of his internship with the USF ISP Sports Network, Andrew became Sports Intern for the Tampa Bay Sports Commission (TBSC). While with the TBSC, Andrew assisted in the execution of over 40 youth, amateur, and national sporting events including the 2009 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, the 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer National Championship, the 2009 ACC Football Championship, the 2009 SEC/Big East Invitational, and the 2009 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. Andrew also assisted the TBSC with bid development, cross promotions with sponsors, newsletter creation, and website management.
